The Fishing
Your Saturday begins in the Orangery with introductions and an overview of the weekend.
Your guide will cover the need for appropriate clothing and explain the legal aspects concerned with permissions and licenses.

The topics he will cover are:

Introduction to the fly-fishing tackle
Choice of rod and line weight
Setting up a rod with line and leader
Choice of fly
How to read the water correctly, highlighting the factors that can affect intentions to fish
Close tuition for creating the cast to present the fly to the water – this will take place on the house lawn;
The methods required to hook a fish after a “take”
Successful landing with a minimum stress to the fish
An overview of river management and the continuous need for conservation

The open season for fishing on the Usk Fisheries District is 3 March - 17 October.

Method Restrictions :-
Fly only - 3 March - 31 May
Fly and Spin only - 1 June - 15 June
Fly, Spin and permitted baits - 16 June - 5 September
Fly and Spin only - 16 September - 17 October
